Community Engagement

The National Standards for Community Engagement were developed and published by the Scottish Community Development Centre on behalf of the Scottish Executive as a central feature of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 2003.

These Standards seek to promote good practice in community engagement and are widely referred to by Community Planning Partnerships. Audit Scotland has also highlighted the Standards as a recommended resource for public bodies. View The National Standards for Community Engagement.

In December 2014 the CNPA Board approved new processes for planning and monitoring community engagement activity undertaken by CNPA staff. These processes are based on the National Standards and include a simple internal process for small-scale engagement activity; and the use of VOiCE (Visioning Outcomes in Community Engagement) – an online resource for larger and more strategic engagement work.

As part of our wider approach to supporting communities in the National Park, the CNPA will work with Voluntary Action in Badenoch and Strathspey (VABS), the Marr Area Partnership (MAP) and other relevant organisations when undertaking community engagement work.
