New Chief Executive appointed

31st May 2004

Jane Hope has been appointed Chief Executive of the Cairngorms National Park Authority.

Andrew Thin, Convener of the Cairngorms National Park Authority, said:  “In a highly competitive field, Jane was the outstanding candidate for this post. Her first rate academic record, her experience, and her vision means that she stood out as the right person for this exciting, challenging, and sensitive role. We are lucky to have her.

“The appointment of a permanent Chief Executive is a milestone on the road to building Scotland’s newest National Park. By promoting partnership and providing leadership, we aim to care for, enhance, and sustain this unique and special place. We now have all the elements in place to tackle that very demanding task in the years to come.”

Jane Hope, Chief Executive of the Cairngorm National Park Authority, said: “With the creation of the Cairngorms National Park, we have a unique opportunity to create a new kind of public body. By learning from public and private sector, we can build an organisation that is open, accountable, forward thinking and willing to be bold.”

“We also have huge challenges to make our role as an enabling body work. The aims of the Park will be delivered by working with others, not going it alone. In particular, there is a lot to do to make the vision of a ‘Park for All’ become a reality. This is a huge challenge, and I am delighted to have been given the chance to help make the Cairngorms the best National Park it can be.”
