Good design is a partnership between well-informed clients and customers, good architects/designers and skilled builders and contractors.
The Cairngorms National Park Design Awards recognise and celebrate good design in the Park. View more about the awards here.
The first awards were held in 2012. Judging focused on the overall design of the entries, how they fit into the landscape, the affordability of the development and the environmental credentials of the buildings.
There were 55 entries to the competition, of which 12 were awarded a commendation, and three were crowned as the 2012 winners – Cairngorm Brewery, Aviemore; new house at Easter Tombain, nr Grantown-on-Spey and The Woodman’s Hut, Lazy Duck Hostel, Nethy Bridge.
There are many examples of good design in the Park. So you can see what’s out there and what’s possible, we’ve put together a series of case studies to inspire you and a map to show you where they are. View the case studies here.
