The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) is helping to fund a series of art competitions and subsequent exhibitions around the Park.
The Society of Badenoch and Strathspey Artists (SBSA) has been awarded funding totalling £3,000 from the ‘Communities in the Park’ small grants scheme.
The group has organised two competitions – one for adults and one for local school children. Ayone living or woring within the boundaries of the Cairngorms National Park can enter and people with strong family links to the area, but who are no longer resident, can also submit work.
Entries can include pictures made from any materials, such as watercolours and pastels (but excluding photographs) or three-dimensional pieces of sculpture. The judges will be looking for creative talent but each piece of work must be inspired by the Cairngorms National Park in some way.
The competitions will result in an eight-venue travelling exhibition which will visit various towns and villages in the Park between October this year and March 2005.
CNPA Chief Executive Jane Hope said: “This project is a great way of celebrating the special attributes of the Cairngorms National Park and I very much look forward to the resulting exhibitions.”
The deadline for entries is Friday 8 October. For more information or an application form, please contact Mrs Valerie Emmett on tel: 01540 661962 or email: Eemail@example.com or Mrs Marielle Barclay on tel: 01540 673311.
