Help shape a cultural heritage event in the Cairngorms National Park
Around this time last year, the Park Authority commissioned the Scottish Community Tourism Network (SCOTO) to explore the creation of an independent cultural heritage network for the Cairngorms National Park.
A key finding of SCOTO's work was the idea of a face-to-face event, bringing together all those involved in cultural heritage to collaborate, share ideas and discuss key priorities for the next few years.
The Park Authority are again working with SCOTO to take this work forward. In order to make the event as relevant as possible for attendees, we are creating a short-term working group with people from right across the National Park, representing different aspects of cultural heritage.
We’re looking to recruit up to nine people and, whether you took part in the original survey or not, we'd love to hear from a wide range of voices from across the National Park.
As a thank you for taking part, all group members will be offered a £150 ‘Love Local’ voucher to spend in shops throughout the region. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for in-person meetings, as well as a contribution towards covering caring responsibilities.
The group will meet four times over the summer months for between one and two hours each time in the afternoon. The dates are:
- Monday 16 June, 1-3pm - in person
- Monday 23 June, 1-3pm - online
- Monday 30 June, 1-3pm - online
- Thursday 21 August, 1-3pm - online
The first meeting will be in person and the others will most likely be online. If you cannot access online meetings for any reason, we would be pleased to accommodate you at the Park Authority office in Grantown-on Spey.
The meetings will be facilitated by Carron Tobin from SCOTO and will help determine the key objectives and format of the event, its location and venue, as well as more detailed matters around speakers and activities.
Our aim is to do the bulk of the work in June, before SCOTO develop a draft event plan over the summer for the working group to review and sign off in August. The cultural heritage event is due to take place early in October.
If you're interested in being part of the working group and can commit to the dates above, please follow the link below and complete the online short application form.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 4 June 2025.
