How to get there
Follow the Craigellachie National Nature Reserve "Viewpoint Trail" as far as the viewpoint as marked on the trial map. The post is next to the path and you will see it as you reach the top of the steps.

In the 1720s the original township of Aviemore sat just below Craigellachie, in the 1860s the railway came to the strath and some key buildings were built nearby. The reservoir within Craigellachie was built to provide water for the steam trains.The recent expansion began in the 1960s as the village became a centre for ski and recreational tourism.
