Whales and Wigs

1000s of years ago standing here you would have a kilometre of ice above your head. Imagine that! A glacier marching out from the snowfields of the cairngorms scraped over the land forming the whale-back shaped rocks you see in front of you. Some time in the last 100 years a plantation of conifer trees was planted across the area. In 2014 the trees were felled to reveal the rocks again. The photographs you take at this photo post will record the regeneration of vegetation and the remnants of the conifer stumps and trunks as they decay.
