A standing stone, cowls and a castle

Close to the A939 between Strathdon and the Lecht, in all but the thickest mist, you will catch sight of what look like 5 medieval monks! These ‘cowls’ are a recent addition to the scene and are individual shelters where you can sit and contemplate the new and the old, shelter from the elements or listen to the skylarks. This photo post will capture the patterns and changes of land and forest management, the dynamic and sometimes challenging weather of remote upper Strathdon and the fortified tower of Corgarff Castle that has stood on this spot unchanged for 500 years!
