Pearls in peril!

Glen Muick (pronounced Mick), Loch Muick and the river Muick, as well as the stunning mountain of Lochnagar, are all part of the Balmoral Estate. This photo post is pointing towards the peaks of Lochnagar but in closer view you will see that trees have been planted along the banks of the river as it meanders across the valley floor. These trees are part of a national project to improve and restore the river habitat for fresh water pearl mussels, salmon and trout. The project is called Pearls in Peril. The photos you take from this location will help us to monitor the success of the project.
