Follow the trail from the Morrone car park through Morrone Birkwood as if walking to the top of Morrone hill. As you approach the boundary fence the photo post is on your right, beside the gate.

More information on this location

The village of Braemar sits at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, where the River Dee and River Clunie converge. The village is known worldwide for the annual Braemar Gathering, probably the most famous Highland Games in Scotland.

The photo post is situated within Morrone Birkwood (“Birk” being Scots for birch); a Site of Special Scientific Interest designated for its woodland, grassland and alpine habitats. Scottish Natural Heritage are managing the reserve to encourage birch woodland regeneration – look for birch seedlings popping up through the heather.
