CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY FOR INFORMATION Title: Delivery of the Scotland Rural Development Programme in the National Park Ð Land Management Support Officers Prepared by: Gordon McConachie, Land Management Support Officer Fiona Chalmers, Senior Land Management Officer Purpose To update the Board on the delivery of the Scotland Rural Development Programme in the National Park to date, and provide a final report on the conclusion of the two-year Land Management Support Officer secondments. Recommendations That the Board notes; a) The current implementation of SRDP Rural Development Contracts within the National Park b) The support work carried out by the Land Management Support Officers (LMSOs) Executive Summary The Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP) is the most significant source of public funding available to support land-based businesses deliver public benefits and hence safeguard the special qualities of the National Park. CNPA and partners have worked to try to maximise the potential value of SRDP to the National Park Ð for businesses and to safeguard the public benefits identified in the Park Plan. Part of that work has been to actively engage with the partner agencies responsible for delivering the SRDP to encourage integration of National Park priorities and in conjunction with that the CNPA employed two Land Management Support Officers for a period of 2 years between May 2008 and May 2010. This paper provides the Board with an annual update on SRDP implementation following on from the previous paper submitted in May 2009 and notes the implementation role of the two LMSO posts with detail in a final report (appendix A).
