CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY 
Title: PROGRAMME OF BOARD MEETINGS IN 2004

Purpose 
To seek agreement to the dates of Board meetings and Planning Committee meetings in 2004, 
and to put these in the public domain. 
Recommendations 
That members agree: 
-the proposed dates for Board meetings and Planning Committee meetings; 
-the principle of holding Board meetings at different venues around the National Park, 
with open evenings held on the previous evening for the Board to meet with the local 
communities. 
Executive Summary 
A programme of board meetings is proposed, which continues the cycle started in 2003, in 
which the Planning Committee (which is a Committee comprising the whole authority) meets 
every second Friday, and the Board meets every fourth Friday. This programme will be kept 
under review, but the need for fortnightly planning meetings is unlikely to change while the 
current legislation is extant. There may not be sufficient formal business to require the Board 
to hold formal meetings every month, but it is suggested that the option of using such dates 
for informal business, such as training, seminars, and informal briefing sessions should be 
kept open, and therefore the dates should still be reserved as dates on which the Board will 
meet. 
It is proposed that the Board continue its policy of meeting at different venues around the 
Park, and holding an informal open evening on the evening before a Board meeting for the 
local communities to meet and talk to Board Members about local issues.
