Cairngorms ViSIT Forum 13/09/06 Paper 1 Cairngorms Tourism Conference 2006 Prepared by: Heather Galbraith, Sustainable Tourism Officer Purpose: To update the ViSIT Forum on arrangements for the Cairngorms Tourism Conference 2006. 1. Background An annual park-wide Tourism Conference is recommended in the Sustainable Tourism Strategy to allow 2-way communication between local tourism-related businesses and the CNPA & partner organisations. The 2006 conference has been scheduled for Wednesday 1st November and will take place at the Lecht ski centre. At the ViSIT Forum meeting on 18th May 2006, it was agreed that the conference should be held in partnership with the Cairngorms Chamber of Commerce, who had their monthly lunch and AGM scheduled for the same day. Suggested topics were ‘Making the most of local events’ and ‘Transport’. 2. Information has already been circulated to Chamber members by e-bulletin and adverts will be placed in local papers. Due to constraints on venue size, numbers must be capped at a maximum of 115, so places must be booked in advance. Delegates will be advised to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. All bookings will be handled by the CCC There is no charge for attending the conference, but there is an opportunity for businesses to promote themselves with stands / banners for a small fee.
