Recommendations To note the information below: 1. The post of Deputy Convener is vacant following departure of the previous post holder; the Board agreed in 15 October to hold the election for a new Deputy Convener in January 2011. 2. Your attention is drawn to paragraphs 4-6 of the CNPA Standing Orders which set out the process. In particular, please note: a) The duration of the Deputy Convenership is three years. b) Nominations will be taken at the meeting. Any Member may, at the meeting, propose another NPA Member for the post of Deputy Convener, and there must be a seconder. c) Election is by absolute majority; if more than 3 candidates, the process involves rounds of voting after each of which the candidate with the lowest number of votes is excluded. d) The current Convenership runs until 7 September 2012. 3. The time input of the Deputy Convener, and the basis for payment, was agreed by the Board in 2003 as 4 days a month, as is the case for the Convener of the Planning Committee. Members are paid on the basis of 3 days a month, so the Deputy Convener would receive an additional dayÕs pay for the duties that go with the post. Jane Hope 5 January 2011 janehope@cairngorms.co.uk
