Corgarff - more info shot

How to get there

Travelling between Strathdon and the Lecht on the A939 you will have to negotiate a steep sharp bend. There is a lay-by right on the corner where you can park. The photo post is only a few metres from the car park.

More information on this location

Set on slopes below the photo post you will see the medieval tower house of Corgarff castle which was originally a noble residence, before it became an army base for hunting down Jacobite sympathisers and, later, whisky smugglers. The castle is now open to the public.

The Corgarff cowls are a stopping point on the “Snow Road Scenic Route”.
