Connect at Cairngorms courses

4th April 2005

It’s not too late to apply for a place on one of a series of tourism training courses, especially designed for businesses in the Cairngorms National Park.

‘Cairngorms Connections’ has been developed by Moray College in conjunction with the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) and Tourist Board Training Ltd.

It aims to provide information about the tourism product in the National Park to all those working in the sector, from those running B&Bs to the local petrol station owner.  Anyone involved in tourism – staff, managers and owners – are all encouraged to take the opportunity to increase their knowledge of what is on offer for visitors across the entire Cairngorms National Park.

The half-day sessions are taking place in various locations in and around the National Park in April and May and will be followed up later in the year with a series of familiarisation trips to visitor attractions and places of interest.

‘Cairngorms Connections’ courses are taking place at the following locations:

  • Laggan – Monday 25 April
  • Kingussie – Monday 9 May
  • Ballater – Tuesday 10 May
  • Kirriemuir – Wednesday 11 May
  • Boat of Garten –  Monday 16 May
  • Braemar – Tuesday 17 May
  • Aviemore – Monday 23 May
  • Tomintoul – Wednesday 25 May

Tourism Support Officer at the CNPA, Heather Galbraith said: “We would urge any tourism-related business, if they haven’t already done so, to sign up for one of these courses.  The half day training sessions will help them to increase their knowledge of all areas of the National Park and therefore be able to better inform visitors of what to see and do, or where to find more information.

“More generally, participants will be able to find out more about the work of the Cairngorms National Park Authority and meet some of our staff.  They will also receive  free entry passes to visitor attractions in the Park so they can experience first hand the types of activities they might recommend to guests and customers.”

The delegate fee for the course is only £20 + VAT (and £25 + VAT for the familiarisations trips later in the year).  To sign up for a place on any one of the initial eight sessions please contact:
