Cycling and mountain biking
The Cairngorms National Park is an incredible and scenic place to explore by bike, and not all routes involve hills!
To help take care of the local nature and wildlife, we ask that you:
- Respect other users. You can show this by slowing down and giving way to walkers and horses, and don’t be afraid to say hello!
- Protect wildlife by avoiding disturbing ground nesting birds or other wildlife. In some places there will be signage asking you to keep to the trail in sensitive areas. Please follow this prevent damage to plants or disturbance to specific species.
- Be aware of land management activities like tree felling, deer stalking or lambing and follow any signage.
- Reduce your impact by riding light to avoid damage to the trail and landscape. Try to avoid wet, boggy, soft ground, especially in winter.
- Keep trail dogs close and ensure your four-legged riding buddy is kept under proper control. Take extra care around livestock and ground nesting birds.
- Stay safe! The Cairngorms is a huge area with remote areas. Plan ahead and make sure that you know the terrain, the difficulty of the route, the weather forecast and your own skills and abilities.
Have fun exploring the Cairngorms National Park by bike!
