Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Cairngorms National Park Authority is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Videos

Videos uploaded by The Cairngorms National Park Authority are not fully accessible and we cannot guarantee those uploaded by external users are either. This can result in not having an audio description or text alternative meaning people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This may fail WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.2.3. (Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded)) and 1.2.5. (Audio Description (Prerecorded)).

Images

Our policy is to provide alt text for screen readers. However, we cannot guarantee that all images brought over from our previous website will contain alt text which may fail WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).

Maps

Thoughtful steps have been taken to make our interactive map accessible to as many users as possible. The use of colour and design have been carefully considered to ensure that the data displayed is distinguishable to most users. The below parts of the map are still not fully accessible:

  • Not all assistive technologies, such as screen readers, can navigate and interpret content on interactive maps.
  • It is not possible to navigate to all aspects of the map using a keyboard alone.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This website was reviewed in February 2025 and this statement was prepared on 15 May 2025 using accessible tools: Screen Readers (ChromeVox and VoiceOver), Google Lighthouse, and axe DevTools. This report and all testing was carried out by Whereverly Ltd.
