CNPA hosts first estates seminar

Privately owned estates can, and do make a big contribution to the aims of the Cairngorms National Park but better communication is needed so that local communities and the wider public can have an input into the way in which estates are managed.

Speaking ahead of the first ever Cairngorms National Park Estates Seminar, Andrew Thin, Convener of the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) said:” Public interest management objectives should go hand in hand with estates legitimate private interests but this will only hapen to everyone’s satisfaction if there is much more effective dialogue between those who own the land and the rest of us.”

That’s the key mesage of this estates conference hosted by the CNPA. At the day long event at the Richmond Memorial Hall in Tomintoul today (Thursday 4 November), Andrew Thin will outline to delegates the aims of the National Park and how estates can help the CNPA to deliver those aims.

Delegates will meet several members of CNPA staff and hear about the projects and areas of work they are involved in, including integrated land management, housing issues and details of the Land Based Business Training Project, which can help fund various types of training for those working the land.
