Carr-Bridge hotelier appointed Cairngorms rep on area tourist partnership

28th February 2006

A Carr-Bridge hotelier is to represent tourism businesses in the Badenoch and Strathspey area on the Highland Area Tourism Partnership (ATP).

Andrew Kirk, along with his wife Susan, has owned the Cairn Hotel in Carr-Bridge for 14 years and is chairman of the Carr-Bridge Tourist Association.  Mr Kirk was also a member of the Badenoch and Strathspey Highlands of Scotland Tourist Board Area Management Committee prior to VisitScotland’s reorganisation in early 2005.

At a recent meeting, members of the Cairngorms National Park VISIT Forum nominated Mr Kirk to represent the interests of Badenoch and Strathspey tourism business at the Highland ATP.

Mr Kirk said: “The Area Tourism Partnership will act as a channel for two-way communication between VisitScotland and local tourism interests.  It is important that tourism operators know that they can contact me to take their issues forward.”

Tourism and Economic Development Manager at the Cairngorms National Park Authority, Debbie Strang said: “It is vital that we keep the Cairngorms National Park at the forefront of everyone’s minds as these new Area Tourism Partnerships emerge, and Andrew Kirk will have an important role to ensure that the views of businesses in Badenoch and Strathspey are taken account of as the Action Plan for the Highland ATP is developed.”

Any tourism related businesses in Badenoch and Strathspey wishing to raise any issues with the ATP prior to its next meeting on Friday 10 March should contact Andrew Kirk on tel: 01479 841212 / email: [email protected]
