CNPA Planning Committee Site Visit — 28 January 2022 Location: Killiehuntly Farmhouse
Applications: • 2020/0220/DET for the erection of a bothy and the formation of an access track at land 515M SE Of Killiehuntly Farmhouse; and • 2020/0221/DET for the erection of bothy and associated service route at land 400M SW of Killihuntly Farmhouse, Kingussie.
Purpose The purpose of this site visit is to help Planning Committee Members to understand the physical context of the site and the land it occupies. Information on the application submitted is available within the Committee Reports of December 2021 and further details are also available on the CNPA website.
Advice and requirements for the day:
- All participants must have carried out a lateral flow test within 12 hours prior to the site visit and have uploaded their result to the NHS results service. Only people with a negative result may attend the site visit.
- Follow the instructions of the Convenor and the Planning Officer leading the site visit.

- A risk assessment has been prepared for the site visit and particular care is required by participants to ensure they are appropriately dressed for cold/wet weather with suitable footwear for very rough/wet and uneven terrain. All participants should be confident of their ability to walk over some sections of very rough ground.
- Planning Committee Members must make their own arrangements for travel to and from the site visit.
- Members of the public are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety on the site.
- A final decision will be made on whether the site visit can be safely undertaken, taking into account weather and conditions on the day, will be taken at the Planning Committee meeting on the morning of 28 January 2022 and communicated to board members and any members of the public who have said they will attend.
Itinerary (timings are indicative after 1400 hours) 14:00 – All site visit participants meet at the car park at Killiehuntly Farmhouse (identified on the map below). Planning Committee Convener and Planning Officer lead briefing for visit and safety briefing.
14:10 – All site visit participants will walk to the site of the Lochan Bothy (led by the Convenor/Planning Officer and identified on map). The route will follow an existing uneven vehicle track before heading through rough terrain to the bothy site. Planning Officer will point out relevant features.
14:50– All site visit participants will then walk to the site of the River Tromie Bothy (led by the Convenor/Planning Officer and identified on map). The route will again follow an existing vehicle track then along the low key path near the river that can be uneven, rough and boggy. Planning Officer will point out relevant features.
