Title: Strategic Risk Register
Prepared by: Louise Allen, Head of Finance and Corporate Operations
Purpose
This paper supports a review by the Committee of the Park Authority’s strategic risk management position.
Recommendations
The Audit and Risk Committee is asked to:
a) Consider the coverage and adequacy of the Park Authority’s strategic risk management position and advise on any gaps or amendments required to the current strategic risk register.
Executive Summary
The Cairngorms NPA’s most recent strategic risk register and strategic risk management position is set out in the Appendix.
The Committee is therefore invited to consider the current coverage of the strategic risk register as set out in the Appendix. Significant trends include:
a) 1 & 2 — good budget settlements for 2024 – 25 (core work and peatland restoration) have alleviated immediate funding pressures, although the risk of in-year adjustments remains a concern. Future funding settlements remain uncertain within a difficult economic environment. b) 11 — escalating reputational risk arises from recent articles in the local press. c) 9 — consideration is being given to the structure and cost of IT services in order to mitigate ongoing cyber risks.
Suggested updates to the strategic risk register are noted in red text on the register.
- The Committee’s views on these suggested updates, and on the current status of the strategic risk register, are welcomed.
