Title: Stra­tegic Risk Register

Pur­pose

This paper sup­ports a review by the Com­mit­tee of the Park Authority’s stra­tegic risk man­age­ment position.

Recom­mend­a­tions

The Audit and Risk Com­mit­tee is asked to:

a) Con­sider the cov­er­age and adequacy of the Park Authority’s stra­tegic risk man­age­ment pos­i­tion and advise on any gaps or amend­ments required to the cur­rent stra­tegic risk register.

Exec­ut­ive Summary

1. The Cairngorms NPA’s most recent stra­tegic risk register and stra­tegic risk man­age­ment pos­i­tion is set out in the Appendix.

2. The Com­mit­tee is there­fore invited to con­sider the cur­rent cov­er­age of the stra­tegic risk register as set out in the Appendix. Sig­ni­fic­ant trends include:

   a) 1 & 2 — good budget set­tle­ments for 2024 – 25 (core work and peat­land res­tor­a­tion) have alle­vi­ated imme­di­ate fund­ing pres­sures, although the risk of in-year adjust­ments remains a con­cern. Future fund­ing set­tle­ments remain uncer­tain with­in a dif­fi­cult eco­nom­ic envir­on­ment. b) 11 — escal­at­ing repu­ta­tion­al risk arises from recent art­icles in the loc­al press. c) 9 — con­sid­er­a­tion is being giv­en to the struc­ture and cost of IT ser­vices in order to mit­ig­ate ongo­ing cyber risks.
