Go ahead for Aviemore Tesco

23rd January 2014

The green light has been given for Tesco to build a new supermarket in Aviemore with the planning consent decision notice having been issued this week by the Cairngorms National Pak Authority.

Planning permission was granted for the 4,456 sq metre development in April 2012 but delays in the provision of additional information from the applicant has meant that only now have all parties been in a position to sign the necessary legal agreements to allow the development to go ahead.

Eleanor Mackintosh, the CNPA’s Planning Committee Convener said: “We are fully aware of the need and desire for a larger supermarket in Aviemore and are delighted to see the decision notice going out today. We look forward to continuing to work with Tesco to ensure the development is of the highest standard.

“Although we resolved to grant planning permission some time ago – the need for further information from the applicant, planning conditions to be met and legal agreements to be signed means that to get to this stage has taken much longer than people would have liked.

“With any development, it is important that applicants provide as much information as they possibly can at the start and submit additional or supporting information in a timely manner to ensure that the wheels keep turning.”
