Cairngorms 2030 Cycle Hubs Fund

A row of bike stands outside the Allt Mor café, Glenmore

Cairngorms 2030 transforming transport grants are available for projects that promote improved travel choice within and between communities in the Cairngorms National Park.

The purpose of this fund is to allow local communities and partners to identify projects that will deliver on the aims and objectives of the transforming transport strand of Cairngorms 2030, and to create a mechanism for them to do that.

The fund will support community-led projects taking a place based approach. It is administered through the Cairngorms National Park Authority supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and will support those seeking grants towards the following eligible project costs (including non-recoverable VAT):

  • Cycle parking and secure cycle storage including installation
  • Public e-bike charger infrastructure and installation
  • Public repair stand(s) with tools
  • Cycle fleet bicycles for short term loans including e-bikes and their management
  • Community based led rides
  • Community maintenance services and classes

Funding is available for these specific deliverables for cycle hub expenditure on infrastructure and supporting activities within the communities of Aviemore and Glenmore, Grantown on Spey and Ballater. Other communities are also eligible to express their interest for consideration in future funding opportunities.

Specific location requirements

Through the cycle friendly Cairngorms project we are looking for a partner to support delivery of cycle related activities across these four areas of the National Park. We can offer grants to cover the cost of equipment, set up and delivery and will work with successful applicants to support them to deliver the project and develop new skills if necessary.

We are keen to hear ideas for improving facilities and offering activities that would encourage more people to try cycling. If you would like to be involved, please complete the expression of interest form below.

Once expressions of interest have been submitted, a project officer will be in touch to offer a support meeting ahead of you being invited to make a full application.
