Travel grant to attend Groundswell

Are you interested in regenerative farming? Do you want to hear debates from farmers across the regenerative spectrum, see kit demos and meet like-minded farmers and other professionals from across the UK?

One of the farmers in the Cairngorms Future Farming project attended Groundswell regenerative agriculture festival last summer and found that “The festival had a really good positive energy. Lot of talks and trials to visit and you came away with lots of new ideas to try put into practice at home”.

This year, we are offering farmers and crofters in the National Park an opportunity to attend Groundswell with a grant to cover the cost of the event ticket and reasonable travel and accommodation expenses. The event is at Lannock Farm, Hertfordshire, 1-2 July 2026. More information can be found on the event website here: https://www.groundswellag.com

We will offer a grant of up to £650 to successful applicants to contribute to the cost of attending the event including:

  • Travel expenses, either the cost of return train or bus tickets or a contribution to mileage (£0.45 / mile). If you are planning to travel by your own vehicle we would encourage ride sharing. Please note we will not cover expenses relating to air travel.
  • Accommodation for up to 3 nights (max £100 per night). There are options to camp at the event site itself from £38 for 3 nights or other options elsewhere.
  • Subsistence up to £30 per person per day.
  • Event tickets (the 2-day pass).

Please note you will need to book your own travel, accommodation and event tickets. After the event, to claim funds against the grant, you will have to send your receipts / invoices, completed claim form (which we will provide) and a short report on your experience at the event to us. The short report is to include how you found the event, any particular highlights or interesting things you learned, what if anything you are going to take forward into your own farming practice and a photo. Please note this grant is only for farmers or crofters within the National Park boundary.

This opportunity is funded by the Cairngorms future farming project, part of the Park Authority's Cairngorms 2030 programme, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to Lottery players.
