House of Bruar and March Burn applications approved
House of Bruar and March Burn applications approved
Following consideration of an earlier report in April, the Cairngorms National Park Authority’s Planning Committee today agreed that the House of Bruar’s detailed planning application for the erection of a warehouse building, access track, parking and associated works should be approved, subject to conditions.
The planning application will now be referred to Scottish Ministers, who may decide to call it in for determination themselves, due to an outstanding objection from SEPA on flood risk grounds.
Planning Committee Convener, Cllr Chris Beattie said: “The House of Bruar’s plans to invest during a challenging time for businesses is admirable, and their commitment to growth will ultimately support jobs and the local economy in the Cairngorms National Park. The Planning Committee took account of the concerns about flood risk at the site but recognised the mitigation measures proposed by the applicant and concluded that the proposal complies with the relevant policies of the development plan as a whole.”
An application for detailed planning permission to restore March Burn at Glen Clova was also approved today. The proposed works include the realignment of the river channel, removal of the lower section of the river embankments, infilling and regrading of the river channel and river embankments, installation of large wood green banks, bank protection, and large wood structures, the formation of an inset floodplain, and wetland scrapes.
Cllr Chris Beattie continued: “The work to restore March Burn at Glen Clova is an important nature-based solutions initiative that will support climate resilience – particularly flood mitigation – and enhance biodiversity in upland Angus.”
The full planning papers, including any conditions for applications, can be found on the planning pages of our website.
