Park board heads south

18th June 2010

The Board of the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) has been experiencing what Highland Perthshire has to offer as the new boundary for the Park moves ever closer.

CNPA board members have been on a visit to Blair Castle today (Friday 18 June), touring the estate this morning by tractor and trailer followed by a question and discussion session in the Castle library with representatives from the Blair Atholl Estate.

The boundary for the Cairngorms National Park is set to move in October from Drumochter to Killiecrankie, just south of Blair Atholl.

CNPA board convener David Green said: “With the inclusion of Highland Perthshire in the Cairngorms National Park it is important as a board that we get out there and find out more about the area in terms of the aims of the Park.

“We want to know about the natural and cultural heritage of the area and how it is managed but also about the local economy, the area’s resources and attractions. Today’s visit has given us a really good snapshot of the area.”
