Cairngorms Agricultural Advisory Group

The Cairngorms Agricultural Advisory Group (CAAG) was established in early 2024 to represent the interests and views of farmers, crofters, organisations and groups working in agriculture in the Cairngorms National Park.
Meetings are planned to be held two to three times a year, depending on the level of business to discuss, and are chaired by a Cairngorms National Park Authority board member with the Park Authority providing secretariat support.
The group’s main functions are:
- To act as a line of communication between the Park Authority and agricultural businesses.
- To provide advice and guidance to the Park Authority on agricultural issues and how these can be managed in the best interests of all concerned.
- To support and collaborate on projects associated with the delivery of the National Park Partnership Plan around agricultural interests.
- To share examples of good practice and improve knowledge transfer, innovation and skills within the sector.
Membership of the Cairngorms Agricultural Advisory Group is drawn from the following relevant agencies, farming and crofting representatives, local farming groups and agricultural agents who have a keen interest in agricultural issues across the area:
- Cairngorms Crofters and Farmers Community Ltd
- Crown Estate Scotland Tenants’ Association
- Individual farmers and crofters from across the National Park
- National Farmers Union Scotland (NFUS)
- Pasture for Life
- Quality Meat Scotland (QMS)
- Scottish Agricultural College
