Kate Christie, Head of Organisational Development
Kate is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, having completed her honours degree there in Industrial Psychology.
Kate first joined the Park Authority in 2004, working as a project manager to identify, arrange, and support training and development for people working for land-based businesses, including farming and agriculture. In 2009, Kate became Head of Organisational Development leading the Human Resources, Facilities and Administrative teams and delivering on the Park Authority’s ambition to be the best small public sector body in Scotland.
Whilst Kate has broad, generalist experience of human resources management, she also chairs the Health and Safety Committee and is the Park Authority’s lead on equality, diversity and inclusion, working closely with the internal equality advocacy group and external Equality Advisory Panel to champion an inclusive and welcoming culture. Kate is an accredited Insights Practitioner and applies human skill theory and people solutions to the Park Authority’s most pressing business challenges.

The new fire byelaw
How the Cairngorms National Park Authority and its partners are tackling the threat of wildfires, including details on the recreational fire management byelaw, in place from 1 April to 30 September each year.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has issued a wildfire warning impacting areas of the National Park on Friday 29 May until Monday 1 June. If you are out and about in the Cairngorms National Park please observe the following guidance:
- Do not light any fire or barbecue, in line with the new fire byelaw
- Always ensure cigarettes are fully extinguished and take your litter (including glass) away with you
- Enjoy the outdoors responsibly - most wildfires are caused by human activity
- Stay alert - with dry vegetation and warm weather, fires can start easily, spread rapidly, and burn intensely
- If you see a wildfire, dial 999
