Towards zero waste in the Cairngorms National Park

25th October 2005

A free community seminar will explore the issues for recycling and community waste projects in the Cairngorms National Park, sharing best practice in community recycling from rural areas across Scotland. The event, which will take place on 1 and 2 November, is open to interested individuals from other rural areas as well as those from within the Park boundaries.

Visitors to national parks anticipate a high level of environmental performance in the park and community recycling can contribute to this performance whilst attaining other local benefits.

The event will include presentations from Andrew Thin, Convener of the Cairngorms National Park Authority Board, Susan Carstairs, SEPA and Iain Gulland, Community Recycling Network. A number of workshops will be led by experienced community recyclers and subjects covered will range from community-scale composting and timber recycling to re-using spare paint and waste education.
