This document contains a tourism engagement version for August 2024 for the Cairngorms National Park. It highlights requirements addressed, links to evidence, and summarizes the evidence. The summary includes a policy context with the National Park (Scotland) Act 2000 and Scotland Outlook 2030: Responsible Tourism for a Sustainable Future. It also covers the Visit Scotland Visitor Management Plan, National Planning Framework 4, National Park Partnership Plan 2022–2027, and Cairngorms 2030. The Cairngorms Tourism Partnership, Sustainable Tourism Action Plan 2023–2028, and Sustainable Tourism Infrastructure Development Plan 2023–2028 are also discussed. The document reviews Managing for Visitors Plan 2023, Cairngorm Mountain Masterplan, Core Paths and active travel, and community action plans. Visitor surveys, demographics, reasons for visits, accommodation, travel, attractions, facilities, and digital connectivity are also looked at with visitor economy, sectorial distribution of economic impact, and tourisim employment are also looked at. Finally, it goes through visitor attractions like adventure and sports, nature-based tourism, heritage, distilleries, and camping and also goes through challenges relating to wild camping, motorhomes, access and parking, short-term lets, public toilets, and land availability before summarizing the implications for the proposed plan.
