Tourism and the Cairngorms National Park – published in 2005, this booklet summarises the CNPA’s Strategy for Sustainable Tourism, ie the management of the impact of tourism on the environment, local people and the local economy, and includes the results of an extensive Visitor Survey undertaken in 2003/2004. An update, produced in 2006, gives a snapshot of some of the work progressed.

This document contains the final report from the Cairngorms National Park Authority (Park Authority) Visitor Survey conducted from May 2019 to March 2020. The survey interviewed 2,191 visitors and 71 residents to understand visitor profiles, behaviors, and motivations for visiting the Park Authority. Most visitors came from the UK, enjoyed the scenery and participated in walking. The majority reported positive experiences and said they would recommend a visit to friends. The report also includes recommendations for attracting more visitors, improving transport and digital connectivity, and building on the positive customer service ratings. The survey data was compared to a previous survey that was conducted in 2014/15.
