This document contains a report from two verifiers who visited the Cairngorms National Park in May 2017. They found the park was doing well in promoting sustainable tourism but made seven recommendations for improvement. These included reducing visitor impact on vulnerable species (like birds), tackling illegal wildlife persecution, better managing high visitor numbers in popular areas, and improving communication with tourism professionals and the public. The report also suggests boosting knowledge of the park among tourism professionals and enhancing sustainable practices among businesses. Finally, it recommends creating a visitor giving scheme to help fund maintenance and conservation, and greater participation in the European Charter Network to share best practices.
