Annual budgets
- Park Authority concentrates on funds that help to deliver the ‘National Park Partnership Plan’
- Councils have local budgets that local councillors will distribute
- and Wider budgets that cover their whole area, not just the National Park
Other locally-based funds…
- Renewables – i.e. windfarm funds
- Local trusts and foundations
- Large employers or land-owners
Funding gaps and the challenges of rural
- Funding for ‘revenue’ is often hard: running costs, wages etc.
- Many funds are delivered annually, meaning a constant chase for the next pot
- National funds might not perceive their impact in a rural setting
- Businesses often struggle to gain community-based funding & National priorities and funds change….
- Many funds are not flexible, they don’t understand the local geography or community
Thank you
