Title: TIMETABLE FOR PRE­PAR­A­TION OF NATION­AL PARK PART­NER­SHIP PLAN 2022 – 2027

Pur­pose

To update the Board on the indic­at­ive timetable for pre­par­a­tion of the next Cairngorms Nation­al Park Part­ner­ship Plan for the peri­od 2022 – 2027.

Recom­mend­a­tion

That the Board:

a) Note the indic­at­ive timetable for pre­par­a­tion of the Cairngorms Nation­al Park Part­ner­ship Plan 2022 – 2027.

Back­ground

1. The Nation­al Park Part­ner­ship Plan (NPPP) is the stat­utory Nation­al Park Plan required by the Nation­al Parks (Scot­land) Act 2000. It sets out the CNPA’s policy and pri­or­it­ies for man­aging the Nation­al Park, coordin­at­ing the CNPA’s func­tions and the func­tions of oth­er pub­lic bod­ies that affect the Nation­al Park in order ensure the Nation­al Park aims are col­lect­ively achieved in a coordin­ated way. The cur­rent Cairngorms NPPP was approved by the Scot­tish Min­is­ters in 2017 and runs to 2022.

Indic­at­ive Timetable

1. The pre­par­at­ory work to start devel­op­ing the next plan to run from 2022 to 2027 has star­ted, with reviews of evid­ence and ini­tial work on stat­utory assess­ments under­way. Table 1 shows the indic­at­ive timetable for pre­par­a­tion of the next NPPP to min­is­teri­al approv­al and adop­tion in 2022. The bulk of the work will be under­taken dur­ing 2021, with con­sulta­tion on a draft NPPP being under­taken in the autumn/​winter.
