Paper I Scottish Outdoor Access Code/Tread Lightly update
Discussion with widespread support for a stronger message on fires given the risk of wildfires during dry periods and to forests, woodland, and peat land. Members also recognised the challenge of cumulative impacts at key hotspots and that fire rings and other signs of campfires are unsightly, interfere with other enjoyment and often result in litter.
Members were keen to suggest:
- Need to get prior arrival messaging right and out to the right audiences
- Messaging does need to be specific as nuance means the message could be lost
- Need to consider messaging and advice to groups who use fires, with permission, for example, branching out and forest schools:
- Dogs message needs to be clear around livestock:
- Messages need to refer to roles of rangers
Paper 2 CNPA Access case work review
Discussion on the level of detail to be included in the case work updates with members have differing requirements. The Chair reminded the forum that the level of detail would be maintained at a high level only. Individual case studies will be presented as necessary.
Paper 3 NLHF Heritage Horizons funding application
Members supportive of CNPA on the proposals.
