QUARTERI
UPDATE
The last quarter of 2021 has been very busy with projects and continuing to re-establishing contacts with local businesses, business associations and other potential donators to the Trust. Voluntary giving was very positive this quarter with some good donations made to the trust and positive noises made for future donations.
The Osprey nest for the Osprey Village project now has designs in place for the interpretation and are hoping to have it in place in the next two months. They continue to hold successful volunteer days at the site and have more plans for the willow weaving project.
The 2021 Cairngorms Green Recovery Fund Projects are all making good progress. See details below for the projects that CT have supported.
RCTC funding has started well with both the Green Change Fund and the Youth LAG getting going. The Green Change Fund has supported seven projects and the Youth LAG has supported 25 projects.
TICK, cycling project has been brought to a close, and we are currently looking at future models for the bikes usage. The Transport Hub is now installed in Aviemore.
LOOKING FORWARD
Looking forward to the first quarter of 2022, projects have been demanding most attention with the Youth LAG and Green Change Fund taking precedence in their set up and running with the short timescales they have.
The ACE project is in the process of being re-mapped and is getting ready to be able to get people back out on the bikes. The GRF2021 projects are all progressing with the exclusion of one project at present.
The Green Change Fund Projects have all started and the first update has happened.
New campaign project information is ready for the Trustees to approve and get out.
Funding applications for core funding have continued to look at increasing the time available for fundraising and marketing activities and other projects (ACE, Youth LAG).

CAMPAIGN PROJECT
An Osprey Nest for the Osprey Village
CAIRNGORMS TRUST GIVE PROTECT GROW
It is a living willow sculpture to represent a safe haven for the fauna of Scotland. It is built in the Milton Loch Community Woodlands where the Boat of Garten Community Company are trying to live up to its ideals.
THE ARK OF CALEDON is an original concept of Bob Jones MBE FAHI
The woodland area is the transformation of the village rubbish dump into wildlife habitat that can also be enjoyed by villagers and visitors. Extra habitat has been created by the planting of trees, the building of We have raised the level of the loch, which provides better habita for the animals that live on in the loch and also increases the amount of carbon stored in the loch. an osprey nest and a plethora of bird and bat boxes. We have built a pond dipping platform and a dragonfly platform (that doubles as a duck feeding platform) so that people can learn about the creatures who use the loch. Our Ark is made of willow coppicing, a native sustainable source of wood, and we have held workshops for people to learn about the wood and how to use it for crafts. You will see willow animals all round the area.
The Osprey Nest for the Osprey Village project in Boat of Garten is still in the same position and has almost finished. They have changed designers for the interpretation and once that is in place they will draw down their final claim from us. The panels are now designed and they are looking to get them manufactured and in place soon. The project has been a real success within the village with increasing numbers of young families visiting the site, playing in the willow sculpture and enjoying the transformation of the area.
The Boat of Garten Wildlife Group are continuing to develop the project following our involvement and have continued to develop the site, including siting benches and seating for visitors to the willow ark. They continue to organise community volunteer days at the site. With th enext coming up in March, date to be confirmed.
