• The panel complemented the scheme and felt that there was a good understanding of Inclusion shown throughout the presentation. • The panel asked whether anything had been done previously to bring the scheme to the Cairngorms area and whether there was anything specific that the panel could help with. The presenters and CNPA staff present explained that they are at the beginning of looking at how this could work in the Cairngorms area. The panel suggested the main barrier to operating the scheme In the Cairngorms would be transport and suggested including navigation of public transport in the training course covering areas, such as, interpreting timetables and what to do if the transport does not arrive. • The panel also suggested that the concession travel for those under 22 years of age could help to overcome some of the barriers young people may experience when aiming to take part in the scheme. • The panel suggested that this may link well with the green prescription work being done by CHAMS. CNPA support staff explained that the Cairngorms 2030 project will be incorporating green prescribing. • The panel suggested creating links between the scheme and young people who are care experienced. • The panel also suggested looking at data specifically focused on ethnic minority groups.
- Item four: Equality Impact Assessment Template — Kate Christie • Kate gave an overview of the template and asked for feedback from the panel. • The panel felt that the template flowed well and acts as a well-integrated impact assessment. • The panel suggested that for the descriptors of child poverty there could be a direct lift from the Child poverty Act and Child Poverty Delivery Plan so that the descriptors match. • The panel suggested including crime figures. • The panel discussed that paternity is not a protected characteristic. It was felt it is important for it to be included but potentially in a separate area to maternity. For example, a section on parenthood and paternity under an intersectional approach. Alternatively, the panel discussed it being included under the protected characteristic of sex or under the umbrella of caring responsibilities. • The panel suggested adding a summary of the protected characteristics. • The panel suggested adding a section for any other considerations. • The panel felt the appendix makes the document long, to combat this it was suggested that there is a separate document for guidance. • The panel suggested adding a potential timeframe for how long it will take to complete to help manage the expectations of the officer completing the document. The panel suggested that there should also be a statement explaining that it will take considerable amount of time as it should be a detailed and cross-cutting document.
