Appendix 2 – Sum­mary of Engage­ment on Action Plan

Back­ground Staff ini­tially drew on the con­sulta­tion feed­back that had been gathered on the Nation­al Park Part­ner­ship Plan up to 2022. Then, begin­ning in May 2023 Cairngorms Nation­al Park Author­ity staff engaged with key stake­hold­ers on the Act­ive Cairngorms Action Plan using the fol­low­ing meas­ures: • Online ques­tion­naire on key issues • One-to-one meet­ings with key stake­hold­ers • Papers sub­mit­ted to key advis­ory for­ums (e.g. Loc­al Out­door Access For­um, Man­aging for Vis­it­ors Group, Cairngorms Tour­ism Part­ner­ship, etc) • Inform­al dis­cus­sion with Cairngorms Nation­al Park Author­ity Board and mem­bers • Cir­cu­la­tion of draft papers • Col­la­tion of feed­back from oth­er key events

Engage­ment In pre­par­a­tion of the Action Plan approx­im­ately 130- 150 stake­hold­ers includ­ing land man­agers, Ranger Ser­vice staff and recre­ation­al interest groups and mem­ber­ship bod­ies have engaged with, or had the oppor­tun­ity to com­ment on, with the emer­ging draft Action Plan. Staff also atten­ded meet­ings with the Loc­al Out­door Access For­um and Equal­it­ies Advis­ory Group, Cairngorms Tour­ism Part­ner­ship, etc.

Sum­mary of Feed­back Over­all, the feed­back on pro­pos­als has gen­er­ally been very pos­it­ive with many new ideas gen­er­ated though the dis­cus­sions — the key stra­tegic points were as fol­lows (full sum­mary is avail­able on request): • Need to ensure tone and main focus is on provid­ing warm wel­come to vis­it­ors (the people / the vis­it­or jour­ney) • Avoid lan­guage around con­flict and pres­sures as far as pos­sible and focus on the pos­it­ive • Main­tain focus on build­ing a fam­ily of Ranger Ser­vices, work­ing togeth­er for the whole Park • Cairngorms Nation­al Park Author­ity to play a more act­ive coordin­a­tion role in mat­ters such as ranger train­ing, volun­teer­ing and the main­ten­ance and devel­op­ment of paths and trails
