NOVEMBER 2023 QUARTERLY UPDATE
Updates
GRF – 3 projects have now closed with some lovely results. Woodland Wheels quickly laid down their extra tar and parents with young children are enjoying the extra space for running beside their young cyclists on the track. Adaptive Snowsports very quickly bought their camera equipment, and it is being used regularly by groups, see our social posts and news updates for details. Badenoch Community Connections have been on their volunteer recruitment drive and have the infrastructure at the allotments in place. 3 projects are still ongoing and will be updating soon.
Nature Resilience Fund 22 – 23– All 4 pollinator fund projects are now closed. On the main fund, the Dee Fisheries riparian tree planting has closed. Skills for Bees project has closed and the RSPB wetlands project at Ballinlaggan has now closed. There is one final project to close which has a final date of 30th October.
Nature Resilience Fund 23 — 24 – Thanks to the CNPA there has been a further £50,000 allocated to projects bringing the total fund size to £110,000. All projects have now accepted their OOG with two projects having had a chance to get started.
Communications — Jennifer is continuing to work with us 2.5 days per month. The day-to-day communications work well with monthly newsletters going out, social media posts and press releases as required. You will have noticed the website is in a new format and the 2024 calendar is ready for sale.
NOVEMBER 2023 QUARTERLY UPDATE
Fundraising – I have spoken to a local freelance fundraiser who will re-design our fundraising pack for us to gain more knowledge about us as an organisation. If all goes well, she is happy to look at taking on the Campaigns fundraising of around £5 – 8,000 with ideally around 50% to be raised through crowdfunding and 50% to be raised through contacts with local businesses and an event. I will be continuing to work alongside her if this goes ahead , she has a good network locally and has a good track record in a fundraising environment.
Big Nature Festival – I have recently spoken to Josie Slade who organises the BNF. It is looking like it will move to September. I am looking at creating a fundraising event that works on 10 days – 10 walks and trying to raise funds through that for path maintenance through the event.
New Funds
Park for All Fund – Talat Yaqoob will be co- ordinating the project and will be in touch to offer trustees the opportunity to be a participant in the workshops, both online and in person to look at the best way to develop a fund for equalities within the Cairngorms.
Path Maintenance Campaigns Funding 23⁄24 – | have attached the guidance and application for this next campaign fund. I have again set the aim to raise around £5,000 — £8,000. You will notice that I have broken this down into several parts.Community Events, Online Crowdfunding, and general CT fundraising. I hope that by being very up front with this the communities applying to us for these projects will be very much more engaged with alerting their community that their projects are happening and engage more with the fundraising.
ACE BIKE PROJECT
NOVEMBER 2023
CAIRNGORMS TRUST GIVE PROTECT GROW
PART OF THE Cairngorms National Park
ACE project update The project is going well with 17 ebikes, 3 cargo ebikes and 1 etrike.
Most of the bikes are out on loan on a rotating basis. In addition to this the 3 NHS bikes now out and about with NHS staff in Aviemore.
I have re-issued the annual contract with Aviemore bikes.
There have been some lovely positive stories coming from the project this quarter, with a number of participants going on to purchase their own ebikes and one participant has purchased an e- trike of the same design as the project has. Another participant was unable to fund the repairs to his car and used the ebike loan period of 6 weeks to save for this and commuted to work from near Boat of Garten to a hotel near Kincraig on a daily basis by ebike for the full 6 week period, they have attributed the project to saving his job over this period.
The quarterly report is attached for information.
