Comments BEAVER PROJECT I have lived and farmed the

I was not aware of any Laggan consultation and yet this would appear to be where you hope for beavers to be active. The arable land adjacent to the Spey is extremely valuable to the continuance of farming in Laggan. I recall the introduction of beaver being discussed at a meeting in Laggan of the Badenoch & Strathspey Branch of the NFU some 25 years ago and there being unanimous opposition (Almost!). . One of the perceived benefits of introduction is the creation of dams reducing flood risk down stream. We built Spillways into our flood-banks 30 years ago. This lets in flood waters at peak levels of the Spey over 150 acres of our arable land., releasing it back as the river level drops over the next week or so. From evidence of the Tay catchment, the beaver can do immense damage to arable land with no advantages. I appreciate that this objection is too late for your so-called consultation, but I would like it to be recorded, nonetheless.
