The car’s parking here slow the traffic down anyway so it’s easy to cross as its so slow. Some parking is daft but usually short lived. Being able to park at the shop is important for some people and keeping a viable village shop is very important for many. The corner needed slowing approaching the hotel. Kinchurdy road entrance could benefit from double yellows. If double yellows go on deshar road they should be on the opposite side to the shop, not the same side.
Do you agree that cycle parking should be provided here?

The top hotel car park is apparently a village car park but this is not well known. There is a huge car park on the other side of the railway line so better access over the railway to it would help.

Not convinced they will be used. Traffic is not that busy

This is a tricky one, I don’t think yellow lines are the answer, this is the only shop in the village and some shoppers have mobility issues, there is no public parking near at hand
What type(s) of crossing do you believe are most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic?
• Formal zebra crossing

Do you agree that the path upgrade is required to make travel along it easier and more accessible?
4
What type of surface should be used when upgrading this path?
Bound surface (e.g. asphalt or resin-bound)
Is there anything else we should consider here?
Should be extended so that all houses feel it’s safe to walk to the village, ideally a cycle way along the main road would be ideal

Double yellow lines outside the Post Office, when there is no alternative car parking are not helpful.

Unless it will be gritted in the winter, the surface should be something that doesn’t easily ice over.

Please explain your answer
1) Lack of car parking space is the real issue here. 2) Cycle parking is already provided in this area of the village. 3) The proposals do not take into account the needs of disabled drivers or passengers wishing to access the Post Office/Shop.
a) Local residents/shoppers/those with mobility issues currently park on the same side of the road as the Post Office… just where the double yellow lines are being proposed. b) Suggest therefore placing the double yellow lines opposite the shop instead of next to it. c) place the crossing on the corner at the Boat Hotel. This where most of the pedestrian traffic tends to cross already. Pedestrians have a good view of traffic from all sides here. This would also alleviate the problem of cars actually parking on the corner at The Boat Hotel. A pelican crossing would control the flow of traffic around this dangerous corner.
What type(s) of crossing do you believe are most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic?
• Formal zebra crossing
Do you agree that cycle parking should be provided here?

Is there anything else we should consider here?
Cycle parking is already provided in this area at The Boat Hotel. Cars will continue to be used for some decades at least to come, so provision still needs to be made for them. Lack of car parking is the real issue here. Consideration must also be given to the needs of local residents/business users with mobility issues not just exclusively the wishes of tourists, cyclists and eco-warriors.

Final thoughts
Consideration should also be given to the rough surfaces and cambers of existing pavements in the village. These provide quite a challenge for mobility scooter users in some areas of the village, to the point where they feel safer riding on the road!
