CNPA 2020 Deer Population Dynamics Report

This document contains a strategic overview of wild deer population dynamics in the Cairngorms National Park, as of 4 February 2021. It presents a report to the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) which was conducted by Strath Caulaidh Ltd (SCL). The report compiles and analyzes available deer count and cull data, along with reviewing herbivore impact survey data on open range habitats to provide the CNPA with an improved strategic understanding of deer population dynamics within the park. It covers topics such as land characteristics, contemporary deer counts, dung counts, cull records, population modelling, impact surveys, and offers recommendations for future monitoring and deer management strategies.
