Case Officer: Stephanie Wade Customer Details Name: Neil Macdonald Address: Rose Cottage Carrbridge Comment Details Commenter Type: Neighbour Stance: Customer made comments in support of the Planning Application Comment Reasons: Comment:Dear Sirs, Thank you for consulting us as a neighbour to the proposal at the former Struan House Hotel. Although the Struan was an iconic part of the story of the strath, it has been derelict and an eyesore for in excess of 11 years and it detracts from the village. The current proposals are well conceived, are of an appropriate style, massing and density for the site and are to be welcomed. We support the application and hope the approval and thereafter the works can be undertaken quickly. Comments for Planning Application 2021/0305/DET Application Summary Application Number: 2021/0305/DET Address: Struan House Hotel Carrbridge Highland PH23 3AS Proposal: Demolition of derelict hotel, together with the erection of 10(No.) affordable flats, and associated parking. Case Officer: Stephanie Wade Customer Details Name: Dr Dagny Gasking Address: Seann Bhruthach Carr-Bridge Comment Details Commenter Type: Neighbour Stance: Customer made comments in support of the Planning Application Comment Reasons: Comment:On 1 October 2021 I contacted Norr Consultants querying the fact that I had not received neighbour notification for the development. Whilst my house (behind the Struan House Hotel) does not share a technical boundary with the proposed development site, I and my neighbours share a legal right of vehicle access with the hotel and the new development, and so we are likely to be directly impacted by the project, both during the building phase and thereafter. I was directed by Norr to contact Stephanie Wade at the National Park with my question, which I did by email on the same day, copying details of the exchange of emails with Norr. I have had no response to my email. One specific point which I would draw attention to, is that for many years there has been a regular flow of water that appears on the present hotel drive approximately level with the now overgrown former car park. This arises each year during the summer months and is easy to see from a series of large puddles, even in the driest weather. I understand that this was raised some years back with Scottish Water as a possible water supply or sewer leak but they reported then that it was nothing to do with any of their services. My thought has always been that it might be evidence of a historic underground stream (Struan = stream) which once flowed down from the Main Street towards my property at the back, where there was a series of underground tanks that drained out into the woods behind, prior to the public sewer. Broadly speaking, like most people in the immediate area, I am in support of the redevelopment which will finally offers a solution to the 15-year increasing eyesore of the hotel.
