COMMUNITY COUNCIL COMMENTS

Nethy Bridge and Vicinity Community Council Application 20/00822/PIP Land At School Road And Craigmore Road Nethy Bridge

Planning Department Cairngorms National Park, Grantown on Spey Dear Sirs, 5th March 20 As the Community Council with responsibility for this development site we would reiterate our qualified support for this development on the site. While the supporting drawings are described as indicative we would ask that the development is carried out in the most sensitive of ways. We would ask that the houses are built on individual cleared spaces among the trees thus allowing as many of the semi mature trees to survive. We would also want the belt of trees adjacent to the road be retained and not felled before being replanted. As far as the offer of the area adjacent to the Nethy Bridge Hotel to the community is concerned we would welcome this, however as this is currently a very welcome open space within the village we would prefer that compensatory planting was not carried out on this area other than some around the fringes. Nethy Bridge is already a very forested village and treeless areas within the village are a welcome open space. Originally when the development of the School Wood was considered the village was offered by the developers the entire area of their landholding excluding the development area. The village would welcome the donation of the forest adjacent to the Nethy Bridge golf course and running up to School Road which could then be managed in perpetuity for the benefit of the village as previously offered. Yours sincerely, Sandy McCook, Chairman
