SUPPORTING STATEMENT

PROPOSAL This proposal seeks a 3 year extension of temporary planning permission for 10 wigwams.

BACKGROUND This need for this extension has arisen as a result of complex planning and conservation designations at Badaguish. These unforeseen delays have required an extended timescale to complete the final phase of this 3 phase development plan.

The current 10 wigwams were located as a pilot scheme adjacent to the main centre facilities on a mature landscaped campsite. They offer visitors an attractive high quality amenity with flexible options of adjacent camping and lodge accommodation.

JUSTIFICATION Treeplanting and landscaping of the new campsite is largely complete. It requires time to establish prior to re-location of these wigwams to the new campsite.

During this period it will be essential for the Trust to maintain quality of visitor experience at Badaguish and to meet current visitor expectations.

This proposal for an extension will enable a smooth transition to complete the final phase by ensuring there is no detrimental impact for visitors. It will enable final completion of the project to a higher standard and quality by minimising any potential negative impact on the Trust’s funding.
