Plan­ning Applic­a­tion 2020/0012/DET – House of Bru­ar Pro­pos­al — Erec­tion of art gal­lery build­ing, etc.

We sup­port this pro­pos­al, which should sup­port eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment in our area, help to sup­port the tour­ist trade and have min­im­al adverse impact on the sur­round­ing area.

We have a con­cern we wish to raise about the impact of this pro­pos­al on the con­flict arising between vehicles trav­el­ling on the B8079 (Blair Atholl to House of Bru­ar and on to Calv­ine) and ped­es­tri­an traffic.

We already have ser­i­ous con­cerns about ped­es­tri­an safety for those using the south-east car park at House of Bru­ar which is on the oppos­ite side of the B8079 road from all the House of Bru­ar build­ings. This pro­pos­al is expec­ted to attract fur­ther vis­it­ors to the site, and will con­sequently increase the num­ber of vis­it­ors using the south-east car park and cross­ing the B8079.

We believe that there is a need for a review of arrange­ments for the safety of ped­es­tri­ans cross­ing as a con­di­tion of approv­al of this applic­a­tion. This review should include loc­al rep­res­ent­at­ives and reg­u­lar users of the B8079 as well as stat­utory author­it­ies. There have been a num­ber of near misses, and this appears to be an appro­pri­ate oppor­tun­ity to carry out such a review.
