Dear Sir,
Planning Application 20/0097/DET — Installation of car park barriers, Cairngorm Mountain, Glenmore, Aviemore, PH22 1RB
I refer to the above application and must inform you that Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council maintains its objection to the application for the following reasons;
- The Community Council is not opposed to development at Cairngorm but wants to be sure that it is a well-structured, carefully planned, and sustainable development which satisfies all the Aims of the Park. The Community Council submits that this application is lacking in information.
- The ‘Overview Support Planning Statement’ says that ‘covering letters for each of these applications will contain additional information specific to the individual application’. The ‘Application Cover Letter’ provided does not give any more information on what is proposed.
- The Community Council had to request a copy of the ‘Application Cover Letter’ as it was not on the Eplanning website. That letter should have been on the
Chairman John Grierson Secretary Joe Kirby
Vic-chairman Al Dargie Treasurer Wilma Grierson
website. It is outrageous that the Community Council, a statutory consultee, should learn more about the application in the local newspaper than is in the developer’s application. It is information that the developer should have included in their application.
- This application is putting the cart before the horse. In the Cairngorm and Glenmore strategy agreed by the Cairngorms National Park Board on 30th September 2016, the partners agreed to develop and deliver masterplan for Cairngorm Mountain. To date there has been no masterplan proposed. In the ‘Overview Support Planning Statement’, HIE states that oversight provided by HIE and CMSL ensures that this shorter-term development proposal will not undermine the more strategic and medium-term planning approach. The Community Council has no confidence in this statement and cites ‘Natural Retreats’ as the reason for this lack of confidence.
In conclusion;
Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council objects to the application. The application does not contain necessary information regarding the reasons for the application. Cairngorm Mountain is of vital importance to the wellbeing of the Park and, what can only be described as slipshod planning applications, does not help.
Yours faithfully,
Chairman
Chairman John Grierson Secretary Joe Kirby
