Item 9 Minecraft Panning Youth Engagement Project

This document contains information for the Cairngorms National Park Authority's Planning Committee on the Minecraft Planning Youth Engagement Project. The Cairngorms National Park Authority (Park Authority) has a priority to engage young people in the planning system, and the COVID-19 restrictions made traditional engagement difficult. Minecraft, a popular and creative game, was chosen as a tool to involve young people in the Park Authority's environment and planning processes. A Minecraft map of the Cairngorms National Park was created and made available for download, and members of the Cairngorms Youth Action Team used it to collaboratively design a community, following rules aligned with the National Park's aims. The Park Authority officers facilitated discussions with the Youth Action Group, and their experiences are being presented to the Planning Committee, with a full evaluation of the project to follow.
