Do you agree we should further explore the opportunity for a separate footbridge?

5

Please explain your answer

Yes the bridge is really narrow and if 2 cars are on the bridge there is very little room for pedestrians especially if walking a dog, pushing a pram etc.

Please provide comments on the other proposals shown in the drawing

Potential for pedestrian crossing at the junction is not the best idea, very limited line of site when driving over the bridge towards the shop and you will be on the crossing before you realise.

Instead of narrowing the road on dell road to create an extended path from the river walk could some of the grass not be removed. You would still have plenty of room for art installation, info boards etc. There is really limited space when coming down dell road especially when cars are parked on the left hand side next to the pavement and when there are events on at the hall. During the busy tourist seasons there is also a lot of people park around the hall to get access to all of our lovely walks.

This area of the village is very busy with traffic and loosing any road is not a very practical or safe option.

What greenspaces / public realm improvements could be made in this area?

Feel we have some really good green spaces in this area, you have the riverside walk and all of the walks that lead off of the football pitch / play area. Very lucky to have the space we have in the village.

Would like to see more parking / footpath provision on station road especially near the Speyside way. This area can be a real bottle neck due to the popularity of the lovely businesses we have here and there is no footpaths leading up to the Butchers and Nethy House. Car park could be improved and signage fixed here as it has fallen down.

Do you agree that an improved crossing for pedestrians should be provided at this location?

What crossing type(s) do you believe are most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic here?

• Raised table (see drawing below) • Dropped kerbs only

Please explain your answer

I feel raised crossings would slow traffic down. I follow a lot of traffic on my way home down from the Dorback road (especially tourists) who do not always stop at this junction just shoot straight across.

Would you support marked cycle lanes here?

Unsure

Why (not)?

Would prefer to see traffic slowed down at this junction and this would make people more aware.

What else should we consider here?

The new grass buildout when you turn left towards the bottom of the village will make this a very tight junction. I use this regularly and when you meet a vehicle here there is not a lot of room, building this out will push traffic more towards each other or the pavement which would defeat the purpose.

Do you agree with the proposed upgrades as shown in the drawing?

5

Please explain your answer

Agree with these upgrade, would make people more aware and especially when children are travelling to and from school along the path.

What else should we consider here?

Only thing to consider is when people are travelling towards the crescent the first entrance can be quite blind to this as there is always cars parked on the corner pushing you over onto the wrong side of the road so there would need to be plenty of signage and lighting here especially for the winter.

Do you agree that a footpath should be provided along the B970?

5

Please explain your answer

Would love to see a path and crossings here, would make it a lot safer and more people could use as it would link up with all different paths

Do you agree that this crossing should be made safer?

5

What crossing type do you believe is most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic here?

Formal crossing — zebra

What else should we consider here?

Entrance for a crossing has been made here but if you do not know the area you would not be aware there are kids crossing. Better signage and lighting here would also help especially for the winter

Final thoughts

Over all really positive but would like to see parts of the roads retained and not given over to paths.

Please explain your answer

the current bridge is hazardous at times even for passing vehicles and always a concern for pedestrians and bikes. Pedestrian measures at either side would be doubly valuable if they also served to reduce vehicle speed / increase driver caution approaching the bridge. I would suggest bikes safer kept on a calmed road bridge. Pedestrians can then more safely linger on the footbridge, to look at the river, the wildlife, the old stone bridge etc

Please provide comments on the other proposals shown in the drawing

I’m not convinced that a bridge need be so big — 3m width is simply a default figure in current traffic planning. A lighter touch say 1.8m clear would serve pedestrian needs perfectly well and the existing environment better. People like little” bridges, they are fun to use and in this location would provide a delicate foil to the big old stone bridge.

What greenspaces / public realm improvements could be made in this area?

Option A gives more space to do this

Do you agree that an improved crossing for pedestrians should be provided at this location?

2

What crossing type(s) do you believe are most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic here?

• Continuous footway along priority road (across side roads)

Would you support marked cycle lanes here?

No

Why (not)?

Based on many years of urban cycling I don’t think fragmented cycle lanes are generally very helpful. When they pop up out of nowhere in a more rural / suburban context they are even more a surprise to the car driver who has then driven past by the time they have thought to act upon them

What else should we consider here?

just slow everything down and subordinate cars to pedestrians and bikes. Priority No1 are the primary school kids on foot everyone else is grown up enough to take care and wait.

beware that big wide conventional footpaths with kerbs can tend increase car speeds and the safety provided by a 100mm concrete kerb is a bit of an illusion. Provide mixed surfaces and everyone stays more awake and takes more care.

Do you agree that this crossing should be made safer?

Final thoughts

although not as pressing a problem as the bridge over the Nethy, the bridge over the Duack, perhaps 250m to the west on the same road, is currently very dangerous for pedestrians and I’m disappointed not to see it even get a mention here. A smaller but significant number of Nethy residents do live on the other side of this bridge and the most natural way to the village facilities is to walk. All paths currently terminate just short of the bridge, it is very poorly lit and a big proportion of motorised traffic coming from Boat is unfortunately still at or above the speed limit at this point. At a minimum, better lighting and some traffic calming should be considered for this location.

5

Please explain your answer

The mix of traffic using the road bridge is currently dangerous.

Please provide comments on the other proposals shown in the drawing

The pedestrian crossing is too close to the junction and may in itself cause a hazard as traffic becomes backed up across the bridge in the direction of

Nethy House.

Do you agree that an improved crossing for pedestrians should be provided at this location?

4

What crossing type(s) do you believe are most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic here?

• Raised table (see drawing below)

Please explain your answer

The raise table will reduce the speed of traffic in all directions.

Would you support marked cycle lanes here?

No

Why (not)?

Don’t believe they are necessary.

Do you agree with the proposed upgrades as shown in the drawing?

4

Do you agree that a footpath should be provided along the B970?

4

Please explain your answer

Traffic moves too quickly along the section of road from the bridge, past Nethy House and the Hotel causing a hazard to pedestrians and cyclists. I woulk to see traffic calming measures in this area.

Do you agree that this crossing should be made safer?

4

What crossing type do you believe is most appropriate, considering the users and the traffic here?

Raised crossing

What else should we consider here?

Reducing the limit to 20mph

Final thoughts

Really pleased to see the width of pavements taking into consideration wheelchair users and cyclists.

The widen of the footway at nethy house may make it more difficult for larger vehicles/farm vehicles to turn out of the junction. This road is needed to access the sewage plant and farms and shops, so cannot be limited to cars only.

No

Why (not)?

Yet to be convinced of the benefit for such a short section of road

Do you agree with the proposed upgrades as shown in the drawing?

2

Please explain your answer

I use the path every day and very rarely meet someone coming the other way. Not a good use of money. A crossing at each end makes more sense.
